Age-Appropriate Lesson Planning and Childhood Cognitive Development

Registration opens August 13, 2025.
Participants will learn how cognitive and emotional development stages shape students’ learning needs and abilities. The workshop focuses on designing arts lessons that align with developmental milestones, from early childhood through adolescence. Educators will analyze scenarios and develop age-appropriate lesson plans tailored to different age groups.
Each LBC workshop in the series is available for independent registration, but to receive the LBC Teaching Artist Certificate participants must attend all five workshops and practicum sessions. All assigned coursework, reflections, and participation in discussions must be completed
This is offering is Workshop 2 of the LBC Teaching Artist Certificate Program, in partnership with Creative Sonoma, is designed to equip aspiring and current teaching artists with the essential skills, strategies, and hands-on experience in arts education. Participants will engage in a series of workshops and a practicum that provides direct experience working alongside LBC’s professional Teaching Artists. Participants who complete the program in full are eligible for compensation or honorarium.
